Hi Soulful Peeps

South Africa was in shock to hear of the passing of Kwaito legend, Mduduzi Tshabalala, known to all of us as Mandoza on Sunday, 18 September 2016. Hi Soulful Peeps

On the 9th of August 1956, women of all races in South Africa staged a march on the Union Buildings in Pretoria, protesting against the proposed amendments to the Urban Areas Act of 1950. These brave women stood silently for 30 minutes before breaking into the famous, "Wathint' Abafazi, wathint' imbokodo" (you strike a woman, you strike a rock) song. As we celebrate Women's Month in South Africa, we as the Soulful Kollective would like to take this opportunity to salute these brave women of 1956, and also salute all the women throughout the world for constantly being pillars of strength.

Hi Soulful Peeps

South Africa was in shock to learn about the passing of car rally driver, Gugu Zulu. This is a man who has been described by many as someone who lived life to the fullest, and was a selfless individual. It is his selflessness unfortunately that cost him his life. So often we use the phrase, "live your life", but never fully understand what that phrase means. Let's look at the life of this gentleman, and hopefully get to understand what this phrase really meant.

Show #111 is upon us ladies and gents. Sai is in the mix this time around. Get ready to go on a soulful house journey with this gentle brother of ours. If anybody has seen the whereabouts of our brother DJ Jiyane, please let us know as he seems to have disappeared, AGAIN. If you do see him, kindly tell him that he has left his room undone... LoL. We leave you with the below quote from rapper, Drake, who says:

Hi Soulful Peeps

The month of June has had its fair share of highs and lows, globally. But the most significant shocker has to have been the Brexit. This really took the world by surprise and has sent shock waves to most countries around the world. In it's own way, also sent fear to a lot of investors and stock markets world-wide. Whether you choose to look at the Brexit in a negative or positive light, please always remember that these incidents are temporary. The phase will pass, and the world will be back to "normal" in no time.

On a more lighter note, the Soulful Kollective would like to congratulate our very own, DJ Blackcoffee, for walking away with a BET Award for "Best International Act - Africa" on the 26th June 2016. This certainly put a smile to a lot of South Africans that have been cheering and looking up to Blackcoffee over the years. As he re-iterated the famous words of Lupita Nyongo, "every dream is valid", our hearts we filled with joy at his achievements and his pride at being a South Africa. As the Kollective, we would really like to express our pride and happiness towards this ball of talent. Well done brother!!!

Show #109 is upon us ladies and gents. This time, Brian BlaQ is in the mix. Get ready to go a journey through the deeper side of house music from this brother.

2. Hidden Spheres – Waiting
3. Teddy G – Soul Echoes
4. Thatmanmonks – Jus Anutha Wunna Deez

Hi Soulful Peeps

The winter season is definitely upon us in South Africa. Please party and hard so the bodies can stay warm. It is also a day before Youth Day in South Africa. A significant date in the history of this country when the youth of Soweto and across the townships in South Africa decided to stand up against a regime that was meant to oppress the then "minority". As we enjoy the fruits of our democracy, let us remember the sacrifices that our brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers had to make in order for us to be here. Remember Tsietsi Mashinini and the youth of 1976 people.

Show #108 is upon us guys. Sai is in the mix. This time, he revisits a "broken home". As he famously quotes, "a broken house is still a home". Sit back and enjoy this next hour of some serious broken beats.
