First and foremost, our condolances go out to the Mpamile family over the sudden passing of their beloved son, who was loved by the nation. It came as a huge shock when we learnt of the sudden passing of kwaito star Simphiwe Mpamile, known to everybody as Brown Dash. Yes, eventhough he did look kinda frail during the SAMA's, we still expected some kind of recovery from him. This has to be one of the biggest losses in the kwaito music scene. This guy was a true embassador of kwaito music. Our condolances go out to his entire family, friends and fans. A big shoutout to the entire media industry for paying tribute to this talented young man in a special way as well. On that sad note guys, show #67 is upon us. Brian Blaq is in the mix. It's really safe to say that holiday season is over now. It's back to work for a lot of people. The past 3 weeks have really made a lot of people lazy and a lot of projects were place on hold because of all these holidays. We're not complaining though. It was good to take a breather. Unfortunately, the next public holiday will fall on a Saturday so there won't be any long weekends until September... Yes, the next long weekend will be in Spring. We are going to go through the entire winter with no long weekends. Sad but true. The Soulful Kollective would like to congratulate all the SAMA winners, but more especially, a HUGE congratulations to Mi Casa, who walked away with 3 awards on Monday (30 April 2012) night. This just went to show that hard work does indeed pay off. These boys have had a long journey and finally, they got what they deserved. They walked away with "Best Dance Album", best "Duo Or Group Of The Year" and "MTN SAMA Record Of The Year". That's huge. Congratulations to the boys.

Show #66 is upon us ladies and gents. We have a 2 hours special this time. We haven't had a guest mix in a while. The first hour has been mixed by Sai. Sit back relax, and enjoy this next hour of some funky nu-jazz. As the man puts it, he's "taking it back to where it all started". You're gonna be blown away. First and foremost, a huge apology to everyone for being quiet for so long. Our individual projects have really made it difficult for us to do the show.
We are however back in full swing. Thank you for being so patient. Our website is almost complete by the way.
We had the opportunity of "test driving" it and it's only a matter of time till everything is up and running.
The Sai & Ribatone music video for the song "Tonite" should be on our screens very soon. Brian Blaq's "Elements Of Soul" is also in the work currently and the compilation should be out in no time.
DJ Jiyane is also busy in the studio, so you can see that we've been busy. This however is no indication that we've forgotten about the Soulful Kollective Radio Show.

Wow you guys. The turnout was really overwhelming. We learnt at a very late stage that there was another cd launch happening at a venue right behing the Orlando Towers. A lot of you got lost, paid and went to the wrong venue but that didn't stop you from leaving that venue and paying again at the towers. That's real support. Sai & Ribatone would really like to extend their thank you's to all of you. It was pleasing to see people sing along to the songs from the album and showing genuine love for these boys. Soweto thank you so much. A huge thank you to the KSA crew for everything they did to ensure that the event was a success. You guys are heaven sent. To all the dj's that came and blessed the crowd. You guys made the night a special one. To Kabomo, Tshepo and Tumelo...wow!!! You guys had the girls eating from the palm of your hands. Lastly, to you, yes you that's reading this now. Thank you for coming out to show just how much you love the "Here & Now" cd. What a beautiful night!!!

The world came to a complete standstill after the news of Whitney Houston's death. This really has been a huge loss to the entertainment industry.
Having started her career off as a singer, and later becoming a talented actress, Whitney Houston proved to the world that nothing is impossible.
She made it more evident by overcoming her drug addiction as well. She inspired both young and old folks, in and outside of the entertainment industry.
Name any female songstress, and she will confirm that she has at some point been influenced by this lady. She will be solely missed and may her soul rest in peace.
The world almost came to an even bigger standstill when rumours of the death of rapper, DMX sufficed. This turned out to be a rumour though, which was a relief.
The Soulful Kollective would once again like to send a huge a shoutout to everyone that came to the Backyard Party on the 18th Februrary 2012.
It really was a beautiful night. Thank you guys for coming through.

One can tell that summer is upon us, judging by the number of gigs happening all over. We do ask that you guys party safely though. Judging by the number of people constantly sneezing and eyes bloodshot, one can tell that Spring is upon us.
Change of season has its various effects on a lot of people and unfortunately, not much can be done to ease the "pain".
On the brighter side however, it'll be good to know that soon we're gonna be enjoying the fruits of Summer.
